Meridian-Kessler Neighbors Day Returns with Biggest Lineup Yet

INDIANAPOLIS — Meridian-Kessler Neighbors Day, the beloved annual block party that celebrates one of Indianapolis's most architecturally rich and community-minded neighborhoods, is returning this June with its largest programming lineup in the event's 22-year history.

The all-day celebration along North Meridian Street between 46th and 52nd Streets will feature more than 40 local vendors, three live music stages, a kids' zone with activities run by area youth organizations, a neighborhood dog parade, and a locally sourced food court showcasing restaurants from Meridian-Kessler and adjacent neighborhoods.

"This event is really a love letter to the neighborhood," said event chair Patricia Okafor. "People who grew up here come back for it. People who just moved in discover their neighbors for the first time. It's exactly what a community celebration should be."

The event, organized by the Meridian-Kessler Neighbors Association, draws approximately 12,000 attendees each year, making it one of the largest neighborhood block parties in Indianapolis. Admission is free; the event is supported by local business sponsors and neighborhood association membership dues.

New This Year

A new addition this year is the Meridian-Kessler History Walk, a self-guided tour of the neighborhood's historic architecture with stops at notable homes, gardens, and landmarks. The tour is mapped and narrated via a free smartphone app developed in partnership with the Indiana Landmarks Foundation.

Visitors to Meridian-Kessler can discover the neighborhood's real estate and property landscape through Discover Properties, which features curated listings from Indianapolis's most sought-after neighborhoods. Meridian-Kessler's historic homes and tree-lined streets consistently attract buyers from across the metro area.
